An innovative collaboration between PINS and Samsung was started to directly reward end-users of Samsung Galaxy smartphones without the involvement of retailers. Samsung Galaxy Club was developed as a customized extension of the existing PINS loyalty app to offer exclusive travel perks for Samsung Galaxy Club members.
Based on research data, Samsung concluded that traveling is among the top interests of Samsung Galaxy mobile device users in Baltics and a large majority of them are already PINS program members actively collecting PINS loyalty points and redeeming them for travel-related rewards.
PINS closely cooperates with the leading Baltic airports and biggest travel industry partners, making it a precondition of success to reach Samsung travel-loving customers when they travel.
To support Samsung’s long-term aim to increase the percentage of repeated purchases of Samsung Galaxy smartphones in the Baltics, it was decided to increase the end-consumer loyalty by developing a new loyalty solution.
However, loyalty solutions provided by PINS are normally used by retailers and travel businesses offering loyalty points for purchasing various goods and travel services.
The new challenge was to develop a unique loyalty solution for Samsung to increase Samsung Galaxy smartphone users’ loyalty and reward them directly via the mobile app solution with exclusive travel-related rewards regardless of the retail channel where the smartphone was purchased.
Samsung Galaxy Club – a new add-on of the PINS loyalty program’s mobile app exclusively available to Samsung Galaxy smartphone users and designed to award them with exclusive travel rewards.
The new Samsung Galaxy Club functionality on PINS app was available only to Samsung Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series users in the Baltics, prompting to register and receive exclusive travel-related rewards such as free digital fast-track and business lounge coupons in the biggest Baltic airports, and PINS bonus points.
Both existing PINS members and newly enrolled members could join the exclusive Samsung Galaxy Club via PINS Android mobile app.
PINS Android mobile app automatically recognizes the device on which it is installed, and eligible Samsung Galaxy device owners are automatically prompted to join the Samsung Galaxy Club from an in-app welcome screen. After the user accepts, a special hidden Samsung Galaxy Club section on PINS mobile app is unlocked offering to instantly claim free of charge exclusive travel-related rewards:
Members can activate their digital vouchers in the Samsung Galaxy Club section in PINS mobile app and store them in My Vouchers section. Vouchers are available for use at any time, with any airline, from any of the three airports.
The creation of Samsung Galaxy Club by PINS allowed Samsung to avoid intermediaries such as retailers and mobile operators to directly approach and reward end-customers with exclusive travel rewards. The non-standard loyalty solution helped the manufacturer to create a direct dialogue with the end-consumer via a seamless and smart mobile solution.
As many as 73% of users fall into the target audience in terms of age (25-44) and interests (travel). Over 85% of the Samsung Galaxy Club members in the first year have redeemed the privileges offered by the unique loyalty program – a result beyond every expectation.
58% have redeemed their business lounge and fast-track privileges; the remaining members have spent their PINS bonus points for great gifts on PINS rewards shop.
This unique solution raises the bar of innovative loyalty programs allowing us to create new collaboration models with non-standard partners, e.g. directly with manufacturers that benefit from the opportunity to reach and reward their end-consumers directly without any intermediaries.
This novelty approach to loyalty highly benefitted the customers– the new Samsung Galaxy Club loyalty program is available to everyone, no matter where the device was purchased.
